The Washington Post Editorial Board wrote an op-ed urging U.S. Congress to pass the proposed American Data Privacy and Protection Act. The board said Congress has a track record for being "adept at missing opportunities" with federal privacy legislation, but that narrative can change by concluding "enough people should be happy with enough things to push it through to passage." The board also addressed arguments from California regarding preemption, noting the ADPPA is "more robust in almost every important area" compared to California privacy law.
