In an op-ed for AdExchanger, W20 Group Global Data Privacy Officer Dan Linton writes the advertising technology industry must adapt as consumers today seek both privacy and relevant ads. “It’s time (and long overdue) for the ad industry to innovate. Advanced contextual targeting, better freemium and premium content, intent-based and (artificial intelligence–driven) personalization and other solutions are already on the horizon,” he writes. “Clinging to old models or looking for loopholes will not suffice. People want privacy and relevant ads, and saying it’s got to be one or the other is just an excuse to not adapt.”
