In an op-ed for The New York Times, breast cancer patient and Bad Science Watch consultant Anne Borden King writes targeted pseudoscience advertisements are a “slap in the face.” Such ads began appearing in King’s newsfeed the week after her diagnosis. “Pseudoscience companies leverage Facebook’s social and supportive environment to connect their products with identities and to build communities around their products,” she writes.
