Since writing his original call for regulation on artificial intelligence in 2015, Bradford Newman writes in an article for TechCrunch that now is the time for his proposed Artificial Intelligence Data Protection Act to take force. Newman writes that with current legislation failing to adequately address the challenges, threats and needs of AI development, “Now — and not later — society must address AI’s legal, economic and social implications with regard to IP and employment.” The proposed legislation, he writes, addresses both the threats to intellectual property rights and the labor force and provides a framework to address them.
