In an op-ed for the Star Tribune, American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota Policy Associate Munira Mohamed and Minnesota Chapter of Restore the Fourth Co-Chair Chris Weiland write surveillance technology is “both incredibly powerful and dangerous.” They called for effective oversight of surveillance and facial recognition tech, saying to move forward without it “makes it that much harder to rein the technology back in.” Citing the slow-moving federal legislative process, they asked local communities and the state to “enact comprehensive oversight.”
