In an op-ed for the Financial Times, U.K. Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Secretary of State Oliver Dowden writes “a bold new approach” to data is “the great opportunity of our time.” As he launches the process to find the next U.K. information commissioner, Dowden thinks there’s an opportunity to use lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic. Data has many “wider societal benefits,” he writes, adding “the (U.K.) has an opportunity to be at the forefront of global, data-driven growth.”
