Law Times reports Ontario's government has begun examining the potential for a private sector privacy law. A discussion paper and accompanying survey have been issued by the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services with the survey aimed to gather public input on a potential provincial law that would cover areas and provide rights that federal law does not. The examination includes the addition of the right to be forgotten, data portability options and potentially further empowering the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.
