The Information and Privacy Commissioners of British Columbia and Ontario found LifeLabs did not properly protect the health data of millions of Canadians, which eventually lead to its 2019 data breach. The commissioners' joint investigation revealed LifeLabs did not have the proper measures in place within its systems and that it collected more information than was "reasonably necessary." LifeLabs announced it has received the commissioners' report and will review the findings.
