In light of the massive breach of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has announced Marc Groman, CIPP/US, will act as new senior adviser on privacy. The former chief privacy officer of the Federal Trade Commission and president and CEO of the Network Advertising Initiative will be senior adviser to OMB Director Shaun Donovan and will work with the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, the Office of E-Government and Information Technology and OMB’s legal teams, Federal Times reports. Groman will reportedly focus on a number of privacy issues, notably how agencies collect, store and secure personal information and how data is disseminated within government agencies and without.
