The Federal Trade Commission announced Maureen Ohlhausen, a Republican, has been officially designated by President Donald Trump as the agency’s acting chair. "I am deeply honored that President Trump has asked me to serve as Acting Chairman of the FTC and to preserve America's true engine of prosperity: a free, honest, and competitive marketplace," Ohlhausen said in an FTC press release. Ohlhausen’s appointment was made through a White House order. With Ohlhausen’s appointment, the FTC currently has two democrats and two vacancies, with outgoing Chairwoman Edith Ramirez stepping down early next month.
