  • Both patient and employee data were confirmed stolen in the Newfoundland and Labrador health care breach that has continued to impact the region, CBC News reports. Little else has been confirmed regarding the attack due to the ongoing status of the investigation. Health Minister John Haggie said, "We're following the recommendations of our experts as to what to say and what not to say."
  • Former Ontario Privacy Commissioner and Executive Director of the Global Privacy and Security by Design Centre Ann Cavoukian called the Newfoundland and Labrador breach "appalling," particularly regarding the lack of security protecting the data. "What I don’t understand,” said Cavoukian, “is you hear these stories (of data breaches) quite frequently now. Why isn’t this sending a message to everybody, both public and private sector: we have to strengthen our security measures?"
