The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner published its “Notifiable Data Breaches Report” covering the reported incidents between July and December 2019. The OAIC received 537 notifications during the six-month time period, which was up 19% from the first half of 2019. The health care industry reported the highest number of data breaches, making up 22% of the total. Of the notified breaches, 64% were caused by malicious or criminal attacks.
