In a blog post on his office's website, New Zealand Privacy Commissioner John Edwards wrote on the growing need to address and improve user consent. Edwards said both consumers and service providers "need to change behaviours" as it relates to consent. In Edwards' scope, consumers will need to be more "curious, diligent, and perhaps willing" when considering their consent, while providers will need more transparency and innovation. Edwards also suggested privacy by design and regulation will be equally involved in rectifying any issues.
