A spokesman for Minister of Justice Kris Faafoi said the appointment for New Zealand’s next privacy commissioner is likely to be made in early 2022, Stuff reports. Current Commissioner John Edwards will begin serving as the next U.K. Information Commissioner 3 Jan. “Every effort is being put into finalising an appointment as soon as possible,” the spokesman said. “The minister is confident the experienced team in the privacy commissioner’s office will be able to continue operating effectively until the new appointee takes up their position.”
