New Zealand's Office of the Privacy Commissioner has announced it will discuss the implications of registering for DNA-testing sites as the main topic of its next PrivacyLive speaker series event 20 June in Auckland. Andelka Phillips, a senior lecturer at the University of Waikato Te Piringa Faculty of Law and a research associate with the University of Oxford's Centre for Health, Law and Emerging Technologies, will lead the forum by discussing her continuing research on the direct-to-consumer genetic-testing industry. The discussion will also include details on the contracts used by DTC companies, as well as the privacy issues these services raise.
