The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of New Zealand unveiled seven key principles to consider and apply when deploying generative AI. "I would expect all agencies using systems that can take the personal information of New Zealanders to create new content to be thinking about the consequences of using generative AI before they start," Privacy Commissioner Michael Webster said. Among the principles outlined are necessity and proportionality, privacy impact assessments, and prohibitions on data retention.
