In a blog post, Office of the Privacy Commissioner of New Zealand General Counsel Joanna Hayward discusses new obligations related to personal information disclosures to international entities under the Privacy Bill. Hayward writes that agencies disclosing information to foreign agencies or people are accountable and "will need to demonstrate that they have carried out the necessary due diligence checks required under the new privacy principle." Hayward added that contractual clauses are the "practical way" to achieve compliance.
