OMNY, the tap-to-pay system rolling out across New York City’s subway system, is raising privacy and data security concerns over its collection of user information, The Verge reports. The system will collect smartphone device identifiers, location, payment and transportation data, and its privacy policy states payment and billing information will be stored for an indefinite period. The New York Public Interest Research Group’s Jaqi Cohen said plans to use and protect data “should be made very explicit.”
