Technology company Kinsa is partnering with the New York City Department of Health to distribute up to 100,000 internet-connected thermometers in elementary schools, The New York Times reports. Data collected by the smart thermometers and an accompanying application will be aggregated, anonymized and made available to local health officials. Future of Privacy Forum Director of Youth and Education Privacy Amelia Vance said transparency is needed for families to understand how data will be used, where it is stored and for how long.
