The New York City Council announced its intentions to vote on the Public Oversight of Surveillance Technology Act. The bill calls for the New York Police Department to disclose details of its surveillance tools and draw up policies on how they are used. Annual oversight of the NYPD's deployment of surveillance is also included in the legislation.
