The Office of the New York State Attorney General Barbara Underwood announced it reached settlements with five companies over the security measures within their mobile apps, PYMNTS reports. The attorney general’s office found the apps for Western Union, Priceline, Equifax, Spark Networks and Credit Sesame all had security flaws that gave malicious actors the opportunity to obtain users’ passwords, Social Security numbers, credit card numbers and bank account information. As part of the settlement, the five companies agreed to implement comprehensive security processes. Meanwhile, the Office of the New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal has sued EmblemHealth over its 2016 data breach.
