Norway's data protection authority, Datatilsynet, has announced its intent to fine manufacturer Aquateknikk AS NOK 300,000 for EU General Data Protection Regulation violations. The penalty stems from a complaint regarding the manufacturer using and obtaining a credit report without a valid lawful ground for the processing. "Since a credit rating contains details of personal finances, it is considered abusive when a business uses the information without any justifiable justification," Datatilsynet Legal Counsel Ole Martin Moe said.
