Norway's data protection authority, Datatilsynet, fined the Norwegian Public Roads Administration NOK 400,000 for violating the EU General Data Protection Regulation. An investigation found the administration violated the purpose limitation principle with its use of camera images to ensure contracting companies and their workers were upholding terms of their work agreements. According to the DPA, the use of the images and subsequent personal data "is significantly beyond" what the contractors expected their data to be used for.
