The Norwegian data protection authority, Datatilsynet, issued a NOK 3 million fine to the municipality of Bergen for not sufficiently securing children’s personal information in a school communication system. In its system for communication between school and home, the municipality “has not established and communicated necessary guidelines for children who have a clear and protective interest in the fact that information about them is processed with the greatest degree of confidentiality,” Datatilsynet Director Bjørn Erik Thon said.
