Nigeria's National Information Technology Development Agency has announced its approval of a directive to telecommunications providers from the Nigeria Communication Commission regarding call recordings. Following a media report citing privacy concerns with the directive, NITDA explored whether NCC's regulation, which called for telecoms to store call recordings and make them publicly accessible, went against the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation. The investigation found the directive was justifiable and that "the NCC's directive is predicated on legitimacy and public interest," NITDA said in a news release.
