When investigating another report, KOAA News 5 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, has found “hundreds, perhaps thousands of files” with the sensitive information of soldiers investigated by the Defense Department and those connected to their cases dumped on a dirt track, KOAA 5 News reports. The files, dating back in some instances to 2009, came from Fort Carson, the report states. The files contained everything from names, Social Security numbers, to medical information and alleged crimes committed. After discovering the information Sept. 14, News 5 alerted Fort Carson's Public Affairs Office, which sent special agents from the Criminal Investigation Division to investigate. Military police investigators have since found a person of interest. “It's a Department of Defense employee, but beyond that I can't speculate in an on-going investigation,” said Fort Carson spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jason Brown.
