Newfoundland and Labrador Information and Privacy Commissioner Michael Harvey said the provincial government must change the public disclosure law to allow his office to review an unredacted report conducted by Rothschild and Co. that identified potential provincial-owned assets that could be privatized. Harvey wrote in Saltwire that the Finance and Treasury Board’s insistence that the $5 million report is exempted from review by his office under a provision in the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, does not allow his office to properly vet whether the FTB is making a legal exemption.
