A New Zealand researcher is pushing for tighter digital laws to protect children, Stuff reports. University of Auckland's Caroline Keen said her research shows youth “have been subjected to intensive corporate surveillance.” She suggests updates to the Privacy Act, including strengthening children’s rights to have personal data deleted. She adds data policies should also be transparent and easily understood, and companies should be required to obtain parental consent before collecting children’s data.
