To mark 25 years of New Zealand’s Privacy Act, Privacy Commissioner John Edwards took to YouTube to deliver a message about the anniversary and upcoming privacy legislation. While Edwards said the Privacy Act was “one of the most comprehensive in the world” when it was created in 1993, he noted a new privacy bill was recently introduced to update and modernize privacy laws. Designed to enhance privacy as a right, Edwards asked for public comment on the new privacy bill and said new resources would be made available to celebrate the Privacy Act’s anniversary in the coming year.
