A Belgium-based bank is working with technology designed to analyze secure, encrypted data sets without divulging the contents of the information, The Wall Street Journal reports. ING Belgium Head of IT Platform Services Johan Smessaert said the technology could be used by organizations to gain more insight into encrypted data and within countries with different laws prohibiting the transfer of customer data out of the country. Smessaert said sharing encrypted data could lead to companies working with organizations in industries they normally do not partner with in order to develop new products. Banks could also use the technology to determine whether certain data sets are worth purchasing. (Registration may be required to access this story).
