The new National Background Investigations Bureau has hired KeyPoint Government Solutions, the private company linked to the 2014 Office of Personnel Management data breach, Reuters reports. Created in part due to the OPM breach where KeyPoint credentials were used, the NBIB will perform “secret” and “top secret” security clearance investigations. The NBIB is designed to reduce processing times for “top secret” clearances from 170 days to 80 days, while bringing times for “secret” clearances from 120 days to 40 days. KeyPoint will be one of four companies hired by the NBIB to conduct field interviews for security clearance investigations, according to the report.
