Software engineers Chakshu Ahuja and Siddhant Sanyam announced the preliminary version of Proxytel at TechCrunch Disrupt’s hackathon, TechCrunch reports. Ahuja and Sanyam believe their privacy-enhancing app provides a solution for both individuals and small businesses who don't want to give out their phone number by implementing a process for phone number masking to keep all calls private. The developers say to ensure the “utmost privacy,” another key feature is that phone numbers will be disposed of on a timely basis. Sanyam suggested that the service would likely be free to very small businesses.
