The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed the workplace, forcing many employees to work from home and employers to ramp up employee health monitoring. With that in mind, the IAPP and EY launched a research initiative to gain more insight into the ways privacy and data protection practices have been affected. IAPP Senior Westin Research Fellow Müge Fazlioglu, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, led the initial phase of this project after surveying 933 privacy professionals, specifically to gain insight into how privacy programs handle remote work data security, employee health monitoring and government access.
Perspective: With COVID-19, privacy is even more front and center
In this post for Privacy Perspectives, and in conjunction with the new IAPP-EY research, IAPP Vice President and Chief Knowledge Officer Omer Tene puts the new COVID-19 paradigm in context, writing, "If you thought privacy was a growth issue in 2019, you ain't seen nothing yet."
