Surveying more than 1,000 companies in the United States and European Union, the Ponemon Institute has teamed up with McDermott Will and Emery on new research about General Data Protection Regulation preparation by organizations of all kinds. Participants in this research work in a variety of departments, including IT, IT security, compliance, legal, the data protection office and privacy, and 90 percent of respondents says their company is subject to the GDPR, with 10 percent unsure. The biggest finding? Almost half of companies represented in this research will not meet the May 25 deadline or don’t know if they’ll make it. McDermott Partners Mark Schreiber, CIPP/US, and Ashley Winton team up with Larry Ponemon to introduce the biggest takeaways from the research in this post for Privacy Perspectives.
