EdScoop reports the North Dakota Board of Higher Education passed a policy to protect student data. The policy implements guidelines on the collection, use and access of students' personally identifiable information and prohibits the state's 11 public colleges from selling data for advertising purposes. North Dakota University System Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs Lisa Johnson said the policy is one of the first in the U.S. to specifically address student data privacy.
