New Jersey lawmakers seek state privacy rules to help protect citizens’ data, NJ Spotlight reports. New Jersey’s Assembly Science, Innovation and Technology Committee plans to hear several measures designed to give individuals more control over their information, as well as educate businesses and online patrons about cybersecurity. “This is really about giving consumers power over their data,” said Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker, D-N.J. “Should this happen at the federal level? Absolutely. We would want to see these protections at the federal level, but we are not seeing that … Until they do, New Jersey is going to do everything we can to protect New Jersey residents.” Meanwhile, AdExchanger reports on data transparency requirements that have appeared in other state privacy laws.
