ThePrint reports Member of Indian Parliament Rajeev Chandrasekhar does not expect the Joint Parliamentary Committee to pass the Personal Data Protection Bill in its current form. Speaking at a recent conference, Chandrasekhar said the 52 sittings the JPC has had to discuss the bill "should tell you that the bill in itself is not something that is working." The pessimism contradicts Indian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad's claim that the bill will be finalized "very soon."
