The Dutch government is taking steps to implement a more substantial data breach notification obligation to protect “vital” industries and services. Telecompaper reports that the law would apply to particular sectors, like electricity, gas, nuclear, water, telecom, finance and government. If passed, the law would require these entities to report breach incidents to the National Cyber Security Center. Telecompaper suggests that the NCSC has the knowledge and systems in place to intervene during breach incidents to protect the information these entities collect, use and store.
