Marwah Rizqy, an opposition Liberal representative of the Quebec national assembly, is raising concerns about the use of facial recognition technology, particularly around misidentification of minorities, iPolitics reports. She said, "In the United States and Europe, they have discovered that this software increases discrimination toward people of colour, who are dark-skinned or Black, and it is worse for Black women." A city councillor in Montreal has also been raising concerns about police use of facial recognition.
