Newfoundland and Labrador Information and Privacy Commissioner Donovan Molloy said the province’s English School District has the right to install cameras in school buses, CBC News reports. The issue was raised after a teenager was charged with three counts of sexual assault, with the parents of one of the victims calling for the cameras in response to the act. Molloy said the Newfoundland & Labrador School Act allows for the installation of cameras as long as it is deemed necessary, but suggests the schools take other measures first, such as assigned seating or using student monitors.
