In a new study, researchers from MIT have found that Indian cities can protect citizen data while using it to improve efficiency. The researchers collected and analyzed data from more than 380,000 government service requests by citizens from 112 cities over the course of a year. From that, they identified "model" cities. "We show there are opportunities to improve privacy and efficiency simultaneously, instead of saying you get one or the other, but not both," said Karen Sollins, co-author of the research.
