The European Parliament voted to allow Europol to process any data voluntarily handed over from organizations, process large amounts of data and develop AI technology for enforcement purposes, Computer Weekly reported. Additionally, a separate proposal will let Europol and national authorities exchange data without judicial authorization. The vote follows Parliament's approval last week on a report from the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs that opposed the use of AI to predict crime and called for a ban on biometric surveillance.
