Bloomberg reports that the American Medical Collection Agency filed for bankruptcy after a data breach affected millions of health care consumers. Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp, Conduent and CareCentrix, companies whose patients were affected by the breach, stopped doing business with the medical debt collector. Meanwhile, Oregon State University revealed a phishing campaign led to a data breach that affected 636 student and family records containing personally identifiable information, including Social Security numbers, in May. Evite, an e-invitation website, notified users of a data breach after a user’s information was listed for sale on the dark web. The breach, which occurred in February, was linked to an inactive data storage file associated with inactive user accounts. Evite says no Social Security information was exposed during the breach.
