The Department of Health and Social Care is selling the medical data of National Health Service patients, which can be traced back to specific surgeries and individual patients, the Guardian reports. NHS officials have raised concerns that the data, compiled from surgeries and hospitals and then sold for large sums for research, is not truly “anonymous.” The DHSC says measures are taken to ensure "anonymity and confidentiality of patients’ personal information."
