Commissioner Terrell McSweeny announced she will be stepping down from her position within the U.S. Federal Trade Commission April 27. “We agreed that a strong FTC is vital to protecting consumers in the digital age,” McSweeny said in a statement. “I hope future commissions will build on this work, expand the FTC’s use of cutting-edge research and technological expertise, and protect the agency’s independence.” McSweeny has been with the FTC since she was appointed by President Barack Obama April 28, 2014. “Commissioner McSweeny has been a steadfast advocate for consumers and competition at the Federal Trade Commission,” Acting FTC Chairman Maureen Ohlhausen said. “Her expertise and enthusiasm have been important assets to the agency.”
