Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan signed executive orders for the creation of a state chief data officer and a state chief privacy officer, Government Technology reports. Maryland's CDO will monitor how state agencies share, use and manage the data it holds while the CPO's duties will include communicating with residents regarding government data collection, protecting the data agencies obtain, and ensuring data minimization and purpose limitation. A nationwide search is underway to fill both positions.
