Marking the first prosecution of a media company under Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, Next Magazine’s chief editor, parent company and publisher were each fined HK$40,000 for publishing the birth certificate of an actress’s son, The Standard reports. Chief Editor Mak King-hing sent guidelines to employees with a warning not to publish individuals’ private information and will publish an apology on the magazine’s website.
