In a blog post, New Zealand Privacy Commissioner John Edwards announced Liz MacPherson has been brought on as assistant commissioner. "2020 is going to be a critical year for us as we implement a new Privacy Act, and make the organisational and process changes necessary to be an effective modern regulator," Edwards wrote. "I can’t think of anyone better suited to help us make the transition to a new operating model, while continuing to maintain our high level of service to citizens, industry, and government." Prior to her new post, MacPherson served as government statistician.
