Trade group lobbyists plan to launch efforts to weaken India's proposed Personal Data Protection Bill, Reuters reports. The U.S.-India Business Council and U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum have indicated they will discuss changes to the bill with members of the parliamentary panel charged with reviewing the bill, as well as U.S. lawmakers. The lobbying efforts follow industry concerns about the negative effects the bill's current provisions might have.
