In an interview with CNN's Michael Smerconish, former Federal Trade Commission Chairman Jon Leibowitz said fears about Congress' move to roll back the Federal Communications Commission's broadband privacy rules is simply "hyper-partisan hyperbole." He added, "It is more accurate to say the status quo will continue." He also warned that privacy issues are becoming more partisan. Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., has urged President Donald Trump to veto the resolution that would roll back the privacy rules. Schumer and 46 Senate Democrats signed a letter calling on Trump to "tell us whose side he's really on." Several ISPs, including Comcast and AT&T, have released statements on how they protect their users' privacy.
